Webkinz these plush pets were put on the market in 2005 by the Ganz company. Every Webkinz is equiped with a secret code witch is at the same time an access key to the Webkinz Web site, the world of the Webkinz, the code allows one to adopt a digital version of the stuffed animal. Once the virtual pet is created and modified to ones needs, they are able to interact with it. The Webkinz have a smaller siblings called Lil’kinz. The Lil’Kinz are as said a smaller version of the Webkinz but are exact copies in smaller scale.

The Webkinz are a new age Beanie Baby, every model is ony manufactured for a short period of time and then stoped . There will be alot of rare Webkinz and this will of course make the prices higher for all these rare collectors items. By now there are a lot of retired Webkinz and the strugle by collectors to find and gather these is fierce. There has been over 2 million webkinz in circulation allready, and another million to registered users of the Webkinz site.

KinzCash is a version of virtual currency. Each virtual pet has certain levels of health, happiness, and hunger that decrease as a child spends time with them. Increasing these levels can be done by exercising, bathing, feeding and playing with the pet. If the levels are lowerd to much, there is a clinc from where medicine can be bought for the pet. The game play mostly revolves around earning KinzCash and of course spending it. To earn KinzCash you can play games, and answer quizzes. Once earned, the KinzCash can be used to purchase items for the virtual pet, to keep them happy and well. Once a user registers a pet, they are allowed to use the website free for one year.. The year ofplaytime can be extended by registering a new Webkinz to the Webkinz World

Some concerns have been raised over the unsafe chat system encorporated in the Webkinz World. Rules an restrictions are in plase for all users, the way messages are sent are also restricted, and there is a dictionary in place to stop bad language from the chat boards and messages. Younger users need to use a drop down menu with at least 900 pre set phrases that can be clicked on as an answer to others the chat room. Youngsters are denied the use of the keyboard for chating.
